Terms & Conditions
Confidentiality: all sessions with Barbara Godoy are totally confidential. The identity of individuals and personal details are carefully protected.
Initial Consultation: this is your first booking where you meet Barbara to decide whether you could do good work together. This initial session focuses on your presenting issue, and aims at clarifying your needs and ideating the best plan for either short-term individual therapy, long-term individual therapy, or group work.
After the Initial Consultation: slots for individual therapy are agreed upon after a plan has been ideated, and are subject to Barbara’s availability.
Ongoing individual therapy: At the end of each month, you will receive via email a confirmation with details of dates and times for the following month. If you session is via video call, you will receive the coordinates for the session upon confirmation.
Length of therapy:
Short-term: Specific focus therapy. Sometimes all you need is a place to gather your thoughts and the opinion of a professional to make an important decision or become more aware of the hidden factors in a given situation. In this case, a time-limited plan can be arranged.
Long-term: A thorough analysis of your life and who you are in it would not take less than a year. Some people have reservations about becoming dependent on long-term support, but therapy is a process and comes to a natural close at the point where it has provided what the client needs.
Payment: invoices are issued on the last days of the month for the sessions and groups corresponding to the month ahead. Payment is due before the 5th of the month, and can be done by card or via direct debit. Session are non-refundable and non-transferrable. In case of an overpayment, credit with Barbara will be issued and can be used for future sessions or groups.
Cancellation Policy and Rescheduling: If any unforeseen circumstances mean that you cannot attend a confirmed session you can ask to reschedule the session. This can only be done if you give 7 days notice and it is subject to Barbara’s availability.
Groups and Courses: groups and courses are a term-long commitment. They can only be joined at the beginning of a term, subject to an admission process. Attendance of at least 80% is mandatory. Latecomers cannot be admitted to a group session, in other to protect the integrity of the session. Terms must be paid of in full, and are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
Retreats: participation of retreats are subject to an admission process. Payment must be done in advance. Retreats are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
Ending: Once a client is accepted for treatment, we have an ethical responsibility to accompany the process to the end. Therapy comes to a completion naturally as an agreement between both parties. The client is free to end therapy at any stage by giving at least two-week notice before finishing to allow for the process of closure.
